What to do when there is suspected child/vulnerable adult abuse
I am a pastor, principal or teacher. Who do I contact if I think a child has been exposed to pornography or endangered/inappropriately touched by a non-clergy staff member, volunteer or another child?
- Contact the AOD Safe Environment office
- You are a mandated reporter. Michigan Child Protection Law requires mandated reporters who have reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or neglect to make an immediate oral report to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) – Centralized Intake (855-444- 3911), followed by a written report within 72 hours OR create a report through the Michigan Online Reporting System (MORS). A written report is not required if MORS was utilized to address the alleged abuse/neglect.
- Make a police report
- Contact Human Resources
- Contact the Director of Compliance
- Contact Communications for assistance with announcements to staff and community regarding any departing staff
